Bonus Commissions

How casinos fund Top Bonuses, which buttons are paid and the limits we put on that money.

Nobody pays to read Top Bonuses; casinos foot the bill. What follows explains the mechanics, the effect on our rankings and the lines that money does not cross. The same company, Ottoreef Digital FZ-LLC of Building 14, Dubai Internet City, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, signs these agreements and publishes the site, so read this page with three others: the disclaimer, the site terms of use and the notes on how we compare.

The short version

Ottoreef Digital has referral contracts with a number of the brands that appear on the site. Register at one of them after clicking through from us and that brand may pay a referral fee. Some contracts pay a one-off sum per newly funded account (the trade calls it CPA). Others pass on an agreed percentage of what those referred players lose, month after month, for the life of each account (revenue share). A few mix both. That income covers research time, writing, photo licences and servers. Fee levels differ between brands and get revisited every so often. Individual rates stay private, since the contracts say so, but the rules below on how those contracts may influence the site are public, and we keep to them.

Will you pay more?

No. Arriving through our button or finding the casino on your own leads to exactly the same deal. We never see your deposit, never skim your bonus and never take a share of a win. Top Bonuses will never ask you to pay for anything.

Paid links take the form of the "Get bonus" and "Visit" buttons sitting in our comparison tables and on each casino profile. Each one first passes through an address on topbonuses.org starting with /go/, which records the click before handing your browser over to the operator. Every other link, whether to our guides, payment firms, ACMA or help services, earns us nothing. Seeing topbonuses.org/go/ flash in the address bar tells you a paid link was used.

What the money changes

Pretending commissions have no effect on the order would be dishonest. A brand's place on a page depends on how well it fits the topic, how strong and how clear its deal is, which Australian payment methods it takes and how widely other Australian comparison pages carry it; the commercial terms we have with it count as well. An unpaid brand may still earn a slot; a paying brand may still miss out. What does not move is set out in five rules.

  1. Bonus sizes, wagering multipliers and minimum deposits match the wording in the operator's own terms. No payment buys a flattering figure.
  2. If we cannot confirm an offer, it is dropped rather than guessed, paying brand or not.
  3. Each page carrying paid links mentions commissions in its footer, with a link to this page.
  4. A casino that closes its doors to Australian sign-ups comes off the lists the same week, whatever it pays us.
  5. Profiles of paying brands keep their weak spots on show: slow payouts, unconfirmed licence records, vague support details.

What we never earn from

There is no fee from any casino for writing a favourable profile, no bonus paid to us for deposits you make after your first, and no arrangement under which an operator can see who you are. We also do not sell banner space to casinos on news stories, and news items are never commissioned or approved by an operator before they appear. When a story mentions a brand we have a contract with, the story is written and checked the same way as one about a brand we have never worked with.

Every brand we partner with runs from outside Australia. At home, the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 forbids selling online casino play to local residents, and there is no Australian licence a casino could hold even if it wanted one. A referral contract is not our promise that a casino is legal for you, that it pays on time or that it handles complaints fairly. Read the disclaimer for what that risk means in practice.

Before you sign up anywhere

Pull up the casino's bonus rules and general terms and go through the parts that will affect you: playthrough, stake limits while the bonus runs, withdrawal caps, ID checks and the list of excluded countries. Decide a spending limit first and stick to it, and only gamble what you could lose without harm. Over-18s only. If gambling starts to hurt, dial 1800 858 858 (Gambling Help Online), staffed at all hours.

When this page changes

Referral contracts begin and end. If the way the site earns changes in any respect a reader would care about, we rewrite this page and the "Checked" date in the header moves forward.
